Is there a difference other than the time frame involved? This is what I mean, when someone needs to get their colon checked for cancer or polyps or whatever at the doctor's office, they have to drink this nasty liquid stuff the day before that totally cleans your system out.
Then there is the stuff you can buy over the counter or online. Something like this is what I am referring to....

Why does one take so much longer than the other... is one more effective?
What other factors should someone who is thinking about doing this take into consideration? I have heard of hydro cleansing but that is not an option due to the high cost. So that is why I am not inquiring about that now.
Anyone have any first hand experience with either one of these, even both would be better. Thanks a lot everyone.
I'm not too familiar with medical cleanses, but I have taken an over the counter one and I work for a Vitamin company. Basically its all herbs that are for colon detox (ex. cascarda sagrada, slippery elm, etc) These and other herbs will slowly take the "toxic material" that is in your colon, and the fiber part of the cleanse will flush it out. The one I took was a 2-week whole body cleanse by Enzymatic therapy, and it consisted of liver cleansing herbs (milk thistle) Laxative formula and fiber pills. Basically in week one I took 4 fiber capsules in the morning, 3 laxative pills at night w/ 1 milk thistle tablet and 4 more fiber capsules. The second week it was the same amount of fiber but less laxative and more milk thistle. So, a colon cleanse product will be very close to this. Its inexpensive at some health stores (I've heard Dr. naturas products are good, but they are pricey) Anyways, I hope this helps some.

I have heard doctors helping colon cleansing thorough some medical treatment / surgery. Do you know any way how to cleanse colon with some natural products?
Most importantly, what reason do you feel the need to cleanse your colon? Anything you hear in an infomercial about it improving your health is going to be a lot of "junk science." But yes, there are natural products to do it. Most systems use bulk-forming laxatives (much like metamucil). Visit this site, if you want to know how to get colon cleanse benefits for your body

Colon cleanse is great for people who are serious about feeling healthier and losing weight.
the key to living long is to have a clean colon
This term is used in Natural and Medical professions. Most of the time a colon cleanse is prescribed prior to a colonoscopy. It is prescribed by Herbalist if the system is acting sluggish and bowels are not regular, energy is minimal and stomach problems persist, however they also give something for the systems support to replace good nutrients and keep it hydrated. As an herbalist, I recommend this only if those conditions present themselves or as a regular routine, twice per year, usually winter and summer or spring and fall. Think about it, your eating habits in the summer are very different than those in the winter and so on and so on.
Instead of seeking help from medical professional is it possible or advisable to cleanse colon at home? If possible, how does one do it?

Colon cleansing: Is it helpful or harmful?
I've read many negative things about colon cleansing, but I don't believe any of them. Colon cleansing generally sounds like a good way to clear toxins from your body. What do you think?
Answer
from Michael Picco, M.D.
Proponents of colon cleansing believe that toxins from your gastrointestinal tract can cause a variety of health problems, such as arthritis, allergies and asthma. They say that colon cleansing — also called colonic irrigation — removes these toxins, thus promoting healthy intestinal bacteria, boosting your energy and enhancing your immune system.
While there is little scientific evidence to support or refute the benefits of colon cleansing, critics say it's generally unnecessary and at times may even be harmful. Although doctors prescribe colon cleansing as preparation for medical procedures such as colonoscopy, most don't recommend it for detoxification. Their reasoning is simple: The digestive system and bowel naturally eliminate waste material and bacteria — your body doesn't need enemas or special diets or pills to do this.
One concern with colon cleansing is that it can increase your risk of dehydration. A potentially more serious concern is that certain laxatives used in colon cleansing, such as those with sodium phosphate, can cause a rise in your electrolytes, which can be dangerous if you have kidney disease or heart disease.
If you choose to do colon cleansing, be sure to take these simple precautions:
* Check with your conventional medical providers first, especially if you take any medications or have any health problems.
* Make sure your colon-cleansing practitioner uses disposable equipment that hasn't been previously used.
* Get a list of specific herbal ingredients and amounts in any colon-cleansing products you use — some herbal supplements can cause health problems.
* Beware of broad or inflated claims that colon cleansing will cure an illness or improve your health.
* Stay well hydrated by drinking lots of fluids while undergoing colon cleansing to prevent dehydration.
If you are considering colon cleansing because of constipation, consider trying these steps first to relieve constipation:
* Drink plenty of fluids, including water
* Eat a diet rich in fiber
* Get regular exercise
