I have ulcerative colitis and 28 years old. Dr wants to operate if not controlled by medication. The medication i am on doesn't seem that effective. Any Ideas?
Well, again I have to agree with everything Zambiti just said including getting Jordan Rubin's book.
Along with the Bee Propolis add about a cup of Aloe Vera juice or gel to you routine everyday or if symptoms are severe drink about a half cup thirty minutes before each meal. You want to be careful not to give yourself diarrhea so self regulate. You might want to check into using some Boswellia too, very healing.

I have a rare form of colitis, called lymphocytic colitis. The doctors say it is in remission, but I still always feel ill, as if I am not in remission. I have tried all the medications there are. Does anyone know of a natural cure/remedy for this? Or even just for normal colitis?
Drinking several 1 ounce doses throughout the day of aloe vera juice - get at local health store. You may want to invest in the gallon containers.
Getting good strains of probiotics preferably pre-refrigerated - at local health store.

My daughter has colitis. I think there must be a natural way to help it, and have read some about it, but I would like to know if anyone has had experience or success with natural remedies. I have heard of using fish oil, other vitamins, low carbohydrates, etc. What have you used that helped? My daughter is 19, goes to the doctor, but has a lot of trouble with this. If you have found any dietary changes that helped, or other, tell what it was, and how long it took for a change to occur. I realize there is a lot of writing about this, but I would like to know if you have had any actual results or experience with this?

Colitis is inflammation of the lining in the colon. There is a supplement called L-glutamine, which is an amino acid that feeds the cells that line the digestive tract. We used L-glutamine for my daughters mouth sores while she was on heavy chemo. This stuff works. I also recommended it to a friend who has a digestive disease and she said it helped her. L-glutamine can be found at the health food store for around $12.00
Another vitamin that may help is vitamin B6.
Below is a link regarding vitamins and you can look at what symptoms you have per the list. Maybe other deficiencies are there that may contribute to your condition.
The other advice that I would say is to keep a food diary so that you can keep tract and figure out what foods upset your digestion. Because digestion can take several hours we often forget what we have eaten. If you keep a diary every day and also how you felt, this will help you narrow down what foods to stay away from.
I found another link for you regarding food that could be irritants.
Hopefully this helps you.

also are grapes harmful in ulcerative colitis?
I have had it and it SUCKS!!!!!!! Here's what I did. I ate ONLY boiled skinless potatoes and steamed broccoli for one week. Then I ate this and added some baked skinless chicken. Stay away from caffeine, DO NOT eat grapes, corn or peanuts!! I also took fresh bee royal jelly from beeroyalproducts.com. What it does is it coats and heals the ulcers from the inside. It is also soothing to the colon. The reason I got it from bee royal products is my doctor recommended this company. He said a lot of the other companies "water down" their products and this company has the freshest purest available. Oh also stay away from tomatoes or anything else with a "skin". Don't eat any fried foods. No beef. No dairy. After you heal you can slowly add this back into your diet. Oh and one of the previous posts said to eat more fiber. Yeah if you want to feel like you are dieing. The doctor will tell you to eat that crap but their not the ones sitting on the toilet feeling like.... Well you know.
NEVER EVER take aspirin, ibuprofen or Advil!!!!!!!!! This stuff will eat more holes in your colon. No matter what else you do, just remember to never take anything containing aspirin.
Edit:
I reread the previous post and she is right. I misunderstood adout the fiber. She said you can eat solulable fiber and she is right.

What Is Colitis And Are There Natural Remedies?
In simple terms, colitis is a catch-all term for any number of conditions that cause an inflamed lining of the bowel. Symptoms like persistent diarrhea, abdominal cramping, fever, loss of weight and inability to sleep are often associated with colitis. Depending on what causes the occurrence of colitis treatment may vary.
If it is determined that the cause of colitis is a parasite, virus or bacterial infection then a course of antibiotics would most likely be prescribed. There are certain diseases that can bring about a bout of colitis such as Crohn’s Disease and Irritable Bowel Disorder. Antibiotics are used to treat colitis which is the result of a parasite or infection; however, they can also cause colitis. If colitis is caused by having taken antibiotics, a good natural remedy is to replace the digestive flora with a good Probiotic supplement.
